Washington Conference: In November 2000, “The Overseas Chinese World Conference for Opposing Independence and Promoting Reunification of China” was held in Washington, the U. S. A. This conference called upon all the Chinese people, both at home and abroad, to unite to “oppose the Taiwan Independence, advance the reunification, and prosper China.” The conference passed its Statement, calling on the Taiwan authority to accept the “one-China” principle and the “1992 Consensus.”
