 In August 2002, the U. S. National League Conference of Councils for the Peaceful Reunification of China was held in Chicargo. This conceference criticized Chen Shuibian’s “One country one each side” assertion, and called upon all the Chinese people in the world, no matter whether at home or abroad, to be united and take actual actions in opposing and stopping the rampant “Taiwan Independence” both in the Taiwan Island and the U.
