In March 2001, the South American Overseas Chinese Conference for Promoting the Peaceful Reunification of China was held in Panama on the occasion of Panama and Costarica’s participation in the CCPPR. This conference approved The Joint Statement on the Resolved Opposition to Chen Shuibian’s “National Dignity and Sovereignity” Statement. After that, this confenence was held in Brazil, Argentina and Chile in sequence, which expressed the strong wishes of the overseas Chinese for realizing the reunification of China and the revival of the Chinese nation.
