On January 30, 1995, Jiang Zemin, Secretary-general of the CPC Central Committee and President of China, delivered a significant speech known as “Continue to Struggle for the Reunification of the Country”, bringing forward his “Eight Points” about the development of the cross-Straits relationships and the advancement of the peaceful reunification of the country during present period. Those points have been profoundly influential.
