On December 31, 1949, the CPC Central Committee delivered An Announcement to the Commanders and Soldiers in the Front and All the Compatriots of the Nation, putting forward a military task in 1950: To liberate Taiwan, the Hainan Island and Tibet for the sublime reunification of China.
