On March 14, 2005, the Anti-secession Law was passed by an absolute majority on the third meeting of the 10th National People’s Congress. This is the first law that opposes and holds back the “Taiwan Independence” secessionists who attempt to separate the country and guarantees the peace and stability in the Taiwan areas, a law to guarantee the intactness of sovereignty and territory and safeguard the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation, and a law to boost the relationships between the two sides and advance the peaceful reunification.
