After the intensity caused by Li Denghui’s separatist remarks during his visit to the U. S. was overcome, Koo Chen-fu, board director of the Strait Exchange Foundation, visited the mainland on invitation on October 14, 1998. Director Wang Daohan interviewed Director Koo Chen-fu in the Hall of Peace, the Shanghai Restaurant of Peace, and gained a four-point consensus. That event took an initiative of the political dialogues across the Straits.
