Wang Daohan, director of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, died of illness in Shanghai on December 24, 2005. Holding the idea of “equal negotiations for the reunification under the One-China principle”, Director Wang had held the conviction that all the Chinese people across the Straits had the same responsibilities for the future of the Chinese nation, exerted himself in the cross-Straits negotiations, and shown his spirit as a worthy of the Chinese nation. His death has caused wide sorrows among people across the Straits, and those in Hong Kong and Macao.
