Most ancestors in Taiwan were immigrants from the mainland. During the 1970s, fossils were unearthed for twice in Tainan County, which were thought to belong to “Zuozhen man,” the earliest human beings in Taiwan. Archaelogical researches have authenticated that they emigrated from the mainland to Taiwan 30,000 years ago. The stone knife-like object with a partial blade unearthed in the Changbin Cultural Relics, Baxiandong, Changbin Township, Taidong County is almost the same as those in a tortoise-back shape excavated in Guangxi. That indicates that Taiwan was one part of the mainland as early as 50,000 years ago.
