曾有人形象的将上海浦东、江苏苏州、浙江温州的区域经济比作“三个圆圈”，而嘉兴正处在这“三个圆圈”的交叠之处，三种经济模式的交汇，形成了嘉兴经济别具一格的特色，人称“嘉兴现象”：“无中生有”、“两头在外”。近几年来，嘉兴崛起了一批具有较高知名度和竞争力的区域规模经济和特色产业，如嘉善的木业、平湖的服装、海宁的皮革、桐乡和秀洲的毛衫、桐乡和海盐的化纤业等。2002年以来，嘉兴的工业经济继续迅猛发展。去年完成工业增加值350.31亿元，比去年增长16.6%；今年上半年完成180亿元，同比增长18.7%。全市初步形成了以省级经济开发区为核心、特色工业成为支撑。一批乡镇专业区和重点企业园区为基础的园区工业框架，有效的促进了产业集聚，推动了工业经济的整体竞争力的提高。农业产业化步伐不断加快，农村经济结构进一步优化，开始向特色化、规模化、标准化方向发展。去年全市农业总产值完成100.87亿元，农业增加值62.9亿元。

Someone has vividly described the regional economy of Pudong of shanghai, suzhou of Jiangsu and Wenzhou of Zhejiang as “3 circles” and Jiaxing is located at the cross of them. Thus, the city forms its special character which is called “Jiaxing situation” which means birth from nothing and pioneers of 2 directions.

These years, there are famous and competitive enterprises with local specialties of Jiaxing. For example, wood industry of Jiashan, garment of Pinghu, leather of Haining, wood jacket of Tongxiang and Haiyan. Since 2002, the industrial economy of Jiaxing has developed in a rapid way. Last year, the industrial added value was 35.031 billion yuan RMB,16.6% higher compared with last year; in the first 6 months of this year, the output was 18 billion, 18.7% higher than that of last year. The city has basically formed a system with provincial economic development area as the center, special industry as backbone.

Many special township enterprises park and key enterprise park form the industrial structure of the economy which efficiently promoted the industrial gathering and pushes forward the overall competitiveness of the industrial economy. The pace of agriculture industrial industrialization is optimizing and begins to develop in the direction of specialization, large-scale and standardization. Last year, the city’ s total agriculture output was 10.087 billion, the agriculture add value was 6.29 billion.

　　开放带动是嘉兴经济发展的鲜明特色。近几年来，招商引资屡创新高。去年全市合同利用外资20.89 亿美元，增长132%，跃居浙江省第二位；实际利用外资4.81亿美元，增长77%。引资质量同步提高，好项目、大项目明显增多，总投资在1000万美元以上的项目有66个，占合同利用外资总额的66%。今年上半年，合同利用外资7.5亿美元，同比增长30.6%；世纪留用外资3.31亿美元，同比增长139%。今年3月，经国务院批准，在嘉兴港区设立了国家级的嘉兴出口加工区。

In recent years, the rate of overseas investment attraction is increasing. last year, the city used the contracted foreign investment of 2,089 billion Us dollar,132% higher than that was before and ranks second in Zhejiang province. The practically used overseas investment is 481 million Us dollar, which increases 77% and quality of the investment has been improved. Good and big projects are increasing obviously. There are 66 projects with the investment over 10 million Us dollar, which takes 66% of the total overseas investment. In the first half of this year, the practically used overseas investment was 331 million Us dollar,139% higher than that of last year. In March this year, Jiaxing export processing area in Jiaxing harbor was established with the approval of the state council.

　　目前，嘉兴正在深入的实施“工业立市”战略，推进沿海、沿路开发，形成两大产业带，构筑对外开放的新平台，努力打造先进制造业基地。沿海，即以嘉兴出口加工区和嘉兴港为重点，整合嘉兴港区、平湖滨海工业区、海盐杭州湾大桥新区和平湖、海盐经济开发区为重点，沿320国道、沪杭高速公路，整合桐乡、海滨经济开发区、秀洲工业区、秀城工业区和嘉善经济开发区，形成沿路沿边产业带。

Currently, Jiaxing is carrying out the strategy of “establishment via industry”, pushes forward coastal and alone road development, thus, 2 industrial belts were formed. We are establishing the new platform of opening up to the outside world and build an advanced manufacturing base. Coastal regions-with the Jiaxing export processing center as key factor, together with the whole area of Jiaxing harbor, Pinghu seashore industrious area. Haiyan Hangzhou Bay bridge new area, Pinghu and Haiyan economic development area-formed north Zhejiang industrial belt; along road-with Jiaxing economic development area as key factor, along shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway and No.320 national highway, together with Tongxing, Haining economic development area, Xiuzhou industrial area, Xiucheng industrial area and Jiashan economic development area has formed roadside industrial belt.
