概况
余杭是浙江省会杭州市的一个城区，位于长江三角洲城市群圆心，总面积1220平方公里，人口80万，辖15个镇乡、单个街道。素有“鱼米之乡、花果之地、丝绸之府、文化之邦”之美称。
余杭历史悠久，5000多年前孕育出的“浪渚文化”，堪称中华文明的曙光。秦王嬴政二十五年（公元前222年），余杭设县。1994年4月，余杭撤县设市。2001年月，余杭撤市设区，成建制划入杭州市。
改革开放以来，余杭经济和社会事业蓬勃发展，2002年全区国内生产总值175.2亿元。国家统计局公布的中同县（市）社会经济综合发展指数显示，余杭区综合经济实力指数连年上升，2001年位居全国21位。
跨入新世纪的余杭，积极实施工业兴区、开放强区、城市化带动和可持续发展战略，合力推进向经济强区、生态城区、文化名区的跨越，一个快速通道衔接、生态走廊相间、产业布局合理、科教文化事业繁荣的现代化都市新区，正在长江三角洲南翼展露雄姿！
A brief Introduction Of Yuhang District
Yuhang District is an important administrative district of Hangzhou City, the provincial capital of Zhejiang Province. It is located in the center of the important city groups of Yangtze River Delta. The total district coverage is 1,220 square kilometers with a population of 800,000. Yuhang District has 15 towns and villages as well as 4 residential communities .It is well--known for its abundant farm products and high-quality silk products. It also has rich cultural heritage.
Yuhang has a long history. The origin of Liangzhu Ancient Civilization can be dated back to as early as 5,000 years ago, considered as the dawn of the Ancient Chinese Civilization. On 222BC, the 25th year of Qing Dynasty, Yuhang was already a county under the rule of Emperor Yingzheng. In April 1994, Yuhang became a city. With the expansion of Hangzhou City, in March 2001. Yuhang was integrated into Hangzhou City as an important administrative district .Since the implementation of China's open door policies, Yuhang has experienced a booming of economy. Yuhang's GDP reached RMB 17.52 billion in 2002. As per the comprehensive index of China's counties and districts, issued by China Statistic Bureau, Yuhang ranked the twenty--first in 2001.
In the 21st century, Yuhang District Government has been working hard to develop industry and special farming to ensure sustainable economic development. Meanwhile, Yuhang has also promoted the social and cultural development. Yuhang is developing rapidly as a modern new satellite city of Hangzhou City with its rationalization of industry and farming, urbanization and environmental and ecological conservation .
