FOSHAN, South China, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- China bagged all three gold medals in synchronized swimming at the Guangzhou Asiad after claiming the combination title at ease here on Sunday.
Performing to the music of the movie Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, China outshined the rest of the field with their passion, power and elegance, and collected 97.125 points to win the gold. Japan and Kazakhstan settled for the silver and bronze respectively.
It is the second time that Chinese synchronized team takes every gold at the Asiad. Last time in Doha, Chinese team beat their strongest rival Japan to mark the breakthrough for Chinese synchronized swimming and a stop for Japan's unbeaten run at the Asiad.
"In Asia, Chinese team has advantages in personal skill, however, comparing with the world strong teams like Russia, we still lag behind in expression," said Zhang Xiaohuan, the coach of the Chinese team.
Japanese coach Masami Hanamure admitted the margin between the two teams by saying the Japanese was in an unstable condition with some new faces joining. "We will try to be more innovative in our performance."
Chinese team will begin the preparation for Shanghai world championships and London Olympics after the Asiad. Looking ahead, Zhang said that the team would focus on changing their performance and improving their technic and expression.
"After the Beijing Olympics, all big international events we participated are held in China, meanwhile in London Olympics, we will be away from home, which is a challenge for us," said Zhang.
"But I assure you that in London we will stage an outstanding performance," added Zhang confidently.
