GUANGZHOU, South China, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Twelve new flags were added in Guangzhou Asiad Athletes Village on Wednesday, including Asian sports powerhouses South Korea, Japan and DPR Korea.
Village chief Kong Shaoqiong welcomed every delegation, and exchanged presents with the delegation leaders.
Only a small part of South Korean delegation appeared at the flag-raising ceremony, but they attracted the largest number of medias to the stage.
"We have a very good impression of Guangzhou," said chef de mission Lee Kee Heung. "But the Games is yet to begin, so we hope everything goes well here."
Japan and DPR Korea had their ceremonies afterwards.
China, South Korea, Japan were ranked top three of Doha Asiad medal standings, and DPR Korea got huge progress in the four years. Both South Korea and Japan had vowed to take the second place in Guangzhou.
More than 10,000 athletes would take part in the Games, which gathered 45 delegations to south China.
The Asian Games will open on Friday through to Nov. 27.
