Christopher Bo Bramsen, Denmark's Commissioner General to the World Expo, presents gifts to the 3 millionth visitor, a seven-year-old girl from China's Guizhou Province.

Pan Yueyu, the lucky visitor, poses with the Little Mermaid statue.

Take off your shoes, step into the shallow pool at the Denmark Pavilion and take a close look at the Little Mermaid. This is not another poolside bash like the one enjoyed by the pavilion's staff on June 30.

This time it was a special reward to the pavilion's 3 millionth visitor, a seven-year-old girl from China's Guizhou Province, who had always dreamed of seeing the world-famous statue.

Today, Pan Yueyu and her parents were privileged to enter the pool and have pictures taken with the Little Mermaid.

The girl said her parents had told her stories about the character created by Danish famous author, Hans Christian Anderson, but she never thought the Little Mermaid might be also "waiting" for her.

Pan's father Pan Tao, said they heard that Demark had placed the statue right in its national pavilion as its temporary home, so they planned this trip to Shanghai.

He said they arrived in the city early this morning and rushed to the Denmark Pavilion as their first stop in the Expo site to let their daughter see the statue she had dreamed for.

Christopher Bo Bramsen, Denmark's Commissioner General to the World Expo, also gave the little girl a set of toys made by Danish brand, Lego.
