BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- The biggest contribution China to make to the world in the 21st century would be the "green drive," a Chinese scholar told a forum held on Tuesday.

Hu Angang, director of the Center for China Study of Tsinghua University, made the remarks when addressing the Annual Summit of China Economy in the 21st Century.

"China should break the traditional economic development pattern which result in high greenhouse gas emissions," said Hu, adding that after China's greenhouse gas emissions peaked, the country should strive to make the economy grow in a clean way.

He said China should take the chance to embark on a low-carbon economic development road. "The modernization of China should be a green one."

Echoing the emissions cutting promises made by china on the 15th United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, and the government's decision to boost low-carbon sectors during the China's Central Economic Work Conference on Monday, Hu said China should cooperate with the world in the "green modernization."

"One world, one green dream; one world, one emissions cutting action" should be the shared concept by world in pushing forward emissions cutting, he said.
