BEIJING, Sept. 15 -- The music and dance epic "Road to Revival," which celebrates the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China, is entering its final phase of rehearsals at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
The dress rehearsal began at seven-thirty on Sunday night, in strict accordance to the finalized program.
"Road to Revival" is the third music and dance epic commemorating the founding of new China, after the "East is Red" and "Song of the Chinese Revolution". The five-act, two-and-a-half-hour performance depicts the exploration, struggle, and development through the past 169 years of China's history, and presents a revived chronicle of the Chinese nation on stage.
Composers and lyricists like Yan Su, Qiao Yu, and Zhao Jiping have contributed to the creation of 17 new songs for the production. In all, over twenty music pieces have been created or adapted for "Road to Revival". And poetry recitation is another artistic form used in the show.
Judging from this successful dress rehearsal, audiences have a lot to look forward to.
Performances of "Road to Revival" will run from September 23rd to October 5th. A TV documentary on the performance is currently in production, and will be released during the show's premiere.
