BEIJING -- The Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland (ATIEM) on Tuesday concluded its members' congress, with Kuo Shan-hui reelected as chairman.

At the meeting, Kuo said, "The association should serve Taiwanese entrepreneurs with a more active attitude, helping them transform and upgrade development modes while guiding them to participate deeper and more comprehensively in the mainland's economic development."

Also on Tuesday, Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, met with some Taiwanese businessmen attending the meeting, promising a favorable environment and conditions for their businesses in the mainland.

"Taiwanese businessmen should seize the opportunities to strive for more development space in cross-Strait economic cooperation... and we will make more efforts to do good and concrete deeds for compatriots from Taiwan," Yu said.

Praising the ATIEM's work over the past six years since its founding, Yu urged the association to continue to unite Taiwanese entrepreneurs to push forward cross-Strait economic ties and contribute to the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations.
