In recent years, the Taiwan authorities have been vigorously advocating "two split sides with separate administrations" and "two Chinas over a period of time." On the face of it, these ideas do not seem to reject the eventual reunification of the country. In fact, their advocates, by using the present division of the two sides, are trying to establish the fallacy that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait are "two political entities not subordinate to each other" and the fallacy that each side has become "an independent international legal person." Advocating of these fallacies aims to change the status of Taiwan as a part of China. In essence, they are attempting to create "two Chinas" or "one China, one Taiwan," thus permanently splitting Taiwan from its motherland. For reasons known to all, the mainland and Taiwan are yet to get reunified, but this has not changed the fact that there is only one China in the world with one sovereignty. The Chinese people will never allow China's sovereignty over Taiwan to be split away and let Taiwan become an independent country.
It should be pointed out that the ideas of "two split sides with separate administrations" and "two Chinas over a period of time," like the plot to bring about "Taiwan independence," are schemes for splitting China's sovereignty and territory, pure and simple. They will bring disastrous consequences to people in Taiwan. |
