XIAMEN, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) Honorary Chairman Lien Chan on Wednesday arrived in Xiamen in east China's Fujian Province to attend a cross-straits agricultural cooperation trade fair in the coastal city on Oct. 19 and 20.
Before his trip to Fujian, Lien attended the cross-straits agricultural cooperation forum held in Boao of Hainan Province on Tuesday. He also visited Taiwan-invested agricultural firms in the island province and met with Taiwanese business representatives during his three-day tour in Hainan.
The 20 proposals passed at the forum include incitations to Taiwanese farmers and agricultural enterprises to invest in the mainland. Those who invest in the mainland will be granted favorable treatment in regard to project approval, land use, infrastructure construction, financial support and quarantine measures.
As a major part of the forum, the trade fair will provide a platform for the two sides to expand cooperation in agriculture. The fair is expected to attract more than 4,000 people. |
