Detained Taiwan spies under interrogation
   日期:2004-01-15 13:51        编辑: system        来源:

Spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office under China's State Council Li Weiyi has confirmed that the seven Taiwan residents detained last December were spies sent by the Taiwan military authorities. All are currently undergoing interrogation.
Li Weiyi told a news conference Wednesday in Beijing that the seven men were sent by the Taiwan military intelligence service. One of them was caught in early December last year by the Chinese state security department while collecting intelligence at a shipyard in Guangzhou.
The rest were detained ten days later on suspicion of collecting military intelligence in Guangdong, Fujian, Anhui and Hainan provinces. Li Weiyi added that the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits has informed the Foundation for Exchange Across the Taiwan Straits of the spies' situation. He said he hoped their family members could also be informed of their status.
