Vice-Premier Zeng Peiyan recently wrote a letter to teachers and students who took part in a "green promise" environmental protection campaign, calling on them to continue their efforts to protect the environment.
Launched in 2001 by teachers and students from 63 primary and high schools in Beijing, the campaign aims to collect old books and magazines and sell them to a Beijing paper manufacturer which makes recycled paper. Profits from the sale are used to plant trees and grass. |
