Weishan county in Shandong province has shut down more than 20 polluting industrial firms to ensure the water quality of the national south-to-the-north water diversion project.
In the meantime, the county has readjusted the product mix and the structure of raw materials in the chemical, yeast and food-stuff industries.
It has rejected the plans for the construction of 17 industrial projects and built a sewage disposal center with a daily capacity of 40,000 tons.
