More than 1,000 overseas buyers attended the Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2004, which opened Tuesday at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.
Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC), Fashion Week is the first garment trade fair launched by TDC sinceHong Kong was removed from the World Health Organization's list ofSARS-affected areas.
The four-day trade fair features 517 exhibitors from Hong Kong and 10 other countries and regions.
TDC's Director of Exhibitions Manager Benjamin Chau said TDC has organized 33 buying missions with over 1,000 buyers from different regions such as North America, Europe, Asia, the Chinese mainland and South Africa.
TDC, in conjunction with airlines and hotels, also offers attractive travel and accommodation deals to all the fair's overseas travelers.
"More than 220 buyers have taken advantage of these special offers," said Chau.
He said, "The fair not only generates business opportunities for the garment industry but also helps boost tourist spending in Hong Kong as all buyers will receive a privilege card upon registration with which they can enjoy various discounts and special privileges from over 50 dining and shopping outlets during their stay in Hong Kong." |
