YANGON -- Myanmar President U Thein Sein vowed on Tuesday to convince those opposing and suspecting the democratic reform.

In his monthly radio speech to the nation, U Thein Sein said he never wants to see politicians in prison, assuring that such remaining political prisoners will be released soon and that he will never use political prisoners as political tools.

He underlined that the seven-point agreement produced out of talks between the government and Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) in Myitgyina in May was a historic one for building domestic peace and represented a major step in ending domestic armed conflict that has lasted for over six decades.

Commenting on his recent working visit to the United States, U Thein Sein said his trip was for building confidence with the U.S. to ensure removal of all sanctions.

With regard to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's recent visit to Myanmar, U Thein Sein said the two countries are working for promotion of bilateral economic cooperation and investment that benefits both equally.
