LONDON -- Defending champions Netherland defeated China 1-0 on Thursday in a rematch of the final of the Beijing Olympics to keep a perfect record in the preliminary round of the women's field hockey competition at the London 2012 here.

The Dutch, who beat China 2-0 four years ago in Beijing, failed to capitalize 10 penalty corners and successed only once out of another 10 shot attempts.

"I'm not happy with the results. We could have won the game by 4-5 goals but we didn't," Dutch coach Max Caldas said.

Maartje Goderie collected the ball and shot home from the left bank of the arc 9:34 minutes into the game for the only goal of the match.

South Korean Kim Sangryul was not satisfied with his Chinese players.

"The results are okey, but I'm not satisfied with the performance of my players, especially the veterans. We have some good passers like Li Hongxia and No. 22 (Song Qingling), but they didn't organize well in the game."

China did not have a single strike throughout the game, no penalty corner as well.

"The Dutch are better on offence, but we played some defence on the other end. The loss is nothing to us. We'll carry on to face Britain," Ma Yibo said.

China had four points after three matches on the third placings of Group A. They will face the second-placed Britain on Saturday.
