BEIJING -- Zhang Dejiang will no longer hold the post as secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), according to a decision by the CPC Central Committee.

Sun Zhengcai has been appointed secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee.

Zhang Dejiang, born in November 1946, is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and vice premier of the State Council.

Sun Zhengcai, born in September 1963, is currently a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee.
