BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Representatives from two organizations respectively authorized by the Chinese mainland and Taiwan to handle cross-Strait affairs are expected to meet in Taiwan from June 23 to 24 to prepare for their upcoming fifth round of talks.
A delegation of the mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS), led by executive vice president Zheng Lizhong, will meet with the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), headed by SEF vice chairman and secretary general Kao Kung-lian, ARATS said in a statement Tuesday.
The two sides are expected to discuss the time and location of the upcoming fifth round of talks between the ARATS and the SEF and finalize preparation work for the talks, it said.
They will also prepare for the signing of the proposed Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) and an agreement aimed at facilitating cross-Strait cooperation on the protection of intellectual property rights. |
