Shanghai Party Secretary Yu Zhengsheng yesterday met visiting Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin in Shanghai.

Yu said providing best service to participants and visitors as well as maintaining the good order of the Expo site were priorities. The Urban Best Practice Area gathers a number of cities, including Taipei, to showcase their practices in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development, which are worth learning, he noted.

The Expo is an important platform in deepening understanding and trust and the event would promote Shanghai's openness as well as cooperation and exchange with other cities, Yu noted.

Hau said Taipei not only showcases itself, but also learns from the experience of other cities by participating in the Expo. He believes the Expo would promote cooperation between Taipei and Shanghai as well as cross-Strait ties.
