Pop singer Leehom Wang, Taipei Symphony Orchestra and drum dancers from Taipei City in Taiwan yesterday joined in the celebration of the traditional Dragon Boat Festival at the 2010 Expo by performing at the UBPA Square in Puxi zone of the Expo site.
Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin wished visitors a happy festival on the stage. He said cities hope to showcase their unique culture at the Expo, and Taipei is no exception.
Wang, the image ambassador of the Taipei Pavilion, said the flight between Taipei's Songshan Airport and Shanghai's Hongqiao International Airport shortens the trip between the two cities, which is very convenient. The first flight from Taipei's Songshan Airport arrived at Shanghai's Hongqiao International Airport at 10:25 am on June 14. Regular flights now run on the route, which takes about an hour and 45 minutes.
The performance was part of the Taipei Culture Celebration which will run until June 28 and involves more than 1,000 artists from Taipei.
Folk artists from Taipei also performed yesterday. |
