BEIJING -- A quake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale jolted Taiwan's Hualien County Tuesday afternoon, the China Earthquake Networks Center said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 9 kilometers, was at 24.1 north and 121.5 east. It struck at 6:55 p.m. Beijing Time, the center said.
The U.S. Geological Survey earlier measured the quake at 5.1 on the Richter scale, while Taiwan's meteorological authorities measured it as 5.2. |
